Aerin Lauder is the grand daughter of Estee lauder and this is a new range of fragrances from her. Each fragrance by itself is very expensive -$110 for 1.7oz or 50ml.
This particular fragrance sampler comes at a reasonable price $16.99 (excludes shipping) for five different scent samples of 2ml each. Each sample can be used for 3-5 days depending on how you spray.  For those who cannot afford to splurge money on a big bottle or want to try the scents at leisure in everyday environment, this is a very good deal to try on expensive perfumes.

It’s nicely packaged and comes with a pamphlet explaining each perfume.
Purchased online from amazon.com

Now let’s dive into each of the scent –

1. Lilac Path

Fragrance Notes: Orange blossom, Jasmine, Angelica and Galbanum*

This is the fragrance I was looking forward to most in the entire collection which is why I was deeply let down on which I’ll come to in a bit.  I love lilac fragrances. Even though the notes don’t list ‘lilac’ explicitly, it is one of the notes you smell immediately. It has a very light lilac fragrance.  This scent is suitable for spring and summer. The fragrance is pretty much linear, is not complex and resembles a lot like jo-malone scents. No doubt it’s a true lilac scent but on the downside it doesn’t last at all at least on my skin. It’s a huge disappointment for me given that it's such a pretty scent.

Other lilac scent like Pacifica’s French lilac has a better longevity and silage.

Silage: Low
Longevity: Low
Repurchase/ Purchase of full bottle: No

2. Gardenia Rattan

Fragrance Notes: Sea water, Tuberose, Gardenia, Tahitian Tiare flower, Amber*

I can right away smell some watery notes as soon as it’s sprayed. Let the scent settle for two minutes and you start to smell the refreshing flowery notes but the watery top note has not disappeared. It’s sort of wet flowery fragrance. I don’t know what tiare flower is or how it smells

so cannot comment on it. The tuberose and gardenia blended with the sea water as background gives it a unique fragrance. It’s as if a sea breeze has been blowing over white floral bush and it carries the fragrance to you. You do not actually smell the flower or feel like you are near the bush but it’s a sort of carried and delivered fragrance. Spray it lightly so you can enjoy the fragrance. There is a bit of warmth to it not sure if it’s the amber. Definitely a summer scent and a day-time or evening scent. Not very strong but lasts longer than the lilac path. But would I spend $110 for a 50ml bottle, definitely no. In my opinion, there are several nice floral, gardenia scents which do not cost as much.

Silage: Moderate
Longevity: Moderate – Strong
Repurchase/ Purchase of full bottle: No

3. Ikat Jasmine

Fragrance Notes: Jasmine, Tuberose, Honey Suckle and Sandalwood*

This fragrance opens up with tuberose notes. It is bit heady if you spray it and straightaway put your nose to wrist. It’s pretty strong and can induce headache.  Once it dries down you can smell the jasmine but it’s not straight jasmine fragrance, something makes it bit powdery may be the tuberose or the honey suckle, I can’t put my finger to it. It develops as a light to medium strong jasmine fragrance later on. Some people may feel it’s a very strong scent. But the sandalwood keeps it from being a plain heady floral scent.
But there is nothing really special about this fragrance. Jasmine lovers may find it alluring enough to spend $110 but not me.

Silage: Moderate
Longevity: Moderate
Repurchase/ Purchase of full bottle: No

4. Evening Rose

Fragrance Notes: Blackberry, Cognac, Rose, Incense*

I love rose scents but not straight rose, I like some complexity or variance. This is not a linear straight rose scent. It’s a beautiful fragrance of dying rose or crushed rose petals but without the sour smell. May be that’s why it’s aptly named evening rose. This is by far my most loved fragrance in the collection. It definitely lasts longer and silage is moderate. It should be perfect for all seasons.  I don’t smell the blackberry at all but I do detect hint of cognac but after like ten minutes I can detect the incense and it blended with rose gives a unique twist to the rose.
The fragrance reminds me of ‘rose milk’, a beverage I used to love back in India during my childhood. The fragrance lasts longer if sprayed on clothes. This one is definitely a winner for me. I’ll consider purchasing a full bottle.

Silage:  Moderate
Longevity:  Moderate
Repurchase/ Purchase of full bottle: Maybe

5. Amber musk

Fragrance Notes: Ambroxan, coconut, rose, benzoin, musk*
Heads up – I don’t like heavy scents or musky scents, I’m a floral person. So I didn’t have much expectation out of this first of all. This was also the last scent I tried on from the set.  Surprise, Surprise!! It has a much cooler opening may be the coconut and you can definitely smell a faint tint of rose but it’s neither too sweet nor heavy or musky like other amber/ musk fragrances. It’s a light; airy scent can be worn during day and summertime. It doesn’t weigh you down.  But it’s definitely great to wear during fall.

Silage:  Moderate
Longevity:  Moderate
Repurchase/ Purchase of full bottle: Maybe

Overall Review: This sampler is a nice purchase worth the value. But none of the individual scent except may be evening rose can justify the price quoted for a 1.7oz bottle. Most fragrances are pretty much linear and lack depth.  I expected much more from Aerin’s collection so was a bit disappointed. Nevertheless this sampler is worth a try.
Happy Smelling!!!
